Oktoberfest- Soft Pretzels, Beer Cheese Dip & Sweet Bavarian Mustard

Oktoberfest- the German festival that is now a worldwide phenomenon, celebrating Bavarian culture! People gather from all over the world to attend the world’s largest beer festival in Munich. The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese Van Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The wedding was celebrated with multiple days of drinking, feasting and horse racing. Since that first celebration, festivities were held every year to commemorate the royal marriage.

Bavarian Pretzels are traditionally served during Oktoberfest and throughout the year. The tasty pretzels are known to have a toasty and salty crust with a soft chewy center. They taste delicious alone, dipped in cheese or even with sweet mustard! The pretzel and these accouterments are a permanent part of the Bavarian bread-based snack culture. zCulinary is going to virtually take you to Oktoberfest - keep an eye out for additional great recipes in the coming weeks!
